Our solution
We enhanced and restructured their architecture with a focus on building a robust, scalable, and secure environment capable of handling large volumes of cardiac data while maintaining compliance with stringent healthcare regulations.
The solution enhanced the compute layer with Amazon EC2 instances managed by Auto Scaling Groups, ensuring dynamic scaling based on traffic demand. An Elastic Load Balancer (ELB) was also integrated to distribute incoming traffic across multiple instances, maintaining high availability and reliability even if some instances became unhealthy.
The solution leverages Amazon S3 for secure, scalable storage of patient cardiac data with cross-region replication, Amazon RDS for reliable data management with automated backups, read replicas, and multi-AZ deployments, and Amazon ElastiCache to reduce latency by caching frequently accessed data, thus improving response times.
We used AWS Lambda for their solution infrastructure, enabling serverless data processing for tasks like ingestion, transformation, analytics, etc, and facilitating automatic scaling as needed. Additionally, we used Amazon SageMaker to provide predictive insights and personalized care recommendations through machine learning models.
The solution prioritized security and compliance with HIPAA and GDPR by implementing AWS Key Management Service (KMS) for end-to-end encryption and AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) for granular access control. Additionally, AWS CloudTrail and an SIEM system were integrated to monitor, detect, and respond promptly to security incidents.

Final result
The enhanced system architecture significantly improved scalability, security, and performance, enabling efficient handling of increased data volumes and varying traffic loads.
