Every now and then we talk about creating award-winning mobile apps. Even the description on our official website reads:
‘Award-winning apps, powered by technology, led by design, nurtured by our global expertise in app development.’
Not only this, every app development company in Singapore, UK, Middle East, or any other corner of the globe claims to build killer user experiences in mobile apps.
However, are we really aware with the idea of an award-winning app?
Well, the stats say otherwise.
7 out of 10 mobile apps fail to meet user expectations, the reasons being poor UI, improper functionality, etc.
And this is the truth, often resulting in poor user experiences. The app stores are well-aware about this. Hence, tech giant Apple decided to give a couple of tips on award-winning mobile app development.
You definitely don’t want to miss this. So, pay attention:
- Content Format
App content should properly fit in the app screen. Text should be readable to user without zoom-in, horizontally scroll, or tilt the screen.
- Touch Controls
The app UI elements should be designed in such a way that they make the interaction with the app easy and intuitive rather than complicating it.
- Buttons & Controls
Size of button and controls in an app should be atleast 44 points X 44 points so that users can accurately tap on these elements with one finger.
- Text Size
Text size should be atleast 11 so, that user don’t have any difficulty in reading it.
- Contrast
There should be proper contrast between background and the screen text font color. Failing to do so will result in poor user experience.
- Spacing
Text shouldn’t overlap. For this, you can increase height or letter spacing.
- Screen Resolution
High-resolution images should be used, no matter what the situation is. Otherwise, screens will appear blurry and result in poor user experience.
- Distortion
Images result in distortion if not used as per the intended aspect ratio. Hence, they should be used as per the screen size.
- Alignment
Text, images, and buttons must be properly aligned for enabling the smooth flow of information.
Hopefully, these UX designing tips from Apple might have given you an idea on how to design an award-winning mobile app. Now, it’s time for implementation.
